I have been to Toronto and Niagara Falls 5 times, The area behind the falls (Clifton hill ) is a bit tacky .. think Ripleys believe it or not and casinos.
But the Falls themselves are Breathtaking both day and night and especially when it’s cold as snow makes it magical and there are a lot less Tourists!

If you can stay overnight look at a hotel with rooms overlooking the Falls we have used the Embassy Suites( double Falls view room) but a lot of people like the Marriott .

If you wanted to do a boat tour they don’t run in the winter though.

Toronto is an easily walkable city but is more expensive than the USA.

Kensington market is good to walk around with loads of food choices.

The ROM ( royal Ontario museum) is world class.

The CN tower has a great viewing from the top and a revolving restaurant w e have only done the view lookout .

China town is interesting has some good Knick knack shops and restaurants, plus plenty of true reflexology and massage places ( not dodgy, traditional chinese reflexology) we have done it , its brilliant after a couple of days walking.

The Eaton Center downtown is a decent mall , similar to most malls in North America and has a decent food court downstairs.

We have only been in the cold weather so have not been out to the islands.

Tim Horton’s coffee and Tim bits ( little donut holes) blows Starbucks out of the water !

Be aware that Toronto does have a homeless problem , it’s nothing to be overly worried about , but you will see people seamlessly lying in the middle of the street , they are lying on the gratings which blow steam/ heat up from below especially near subway stations( in cooler and cold weather as Toronto gets bitterly cold in winter)

Great place. Toronto there is the tower, the baseball stadium, the lake, shopping and theatre district. It’s an amazing clean place we loved it.
As to Niagara we did several days there as we got married there. However it’s a cool place to experience especially if you liked superman 😝

The maid on the mist was brilliant as is the behind the falls walk.

Niagara on the lake is still to this day the prettiest place we’ve ever been. Plus ice wine stops to get a tipsy feeling.

Lovely place and it will be brilliant no matter what you do.

Sorry for the delayed response!

The aquarium.
The Hockey hall of fame.
Casa Loma
Toronto Zoo
Wander around St Lawrence food market
Museum wise you have the AGO, the ROM and the Bata shoe museum
Depending on the ages of your kids the distillery district is really great, and places like Steamwhistle do brewery tours
Toronto Islands are lovely, with a beach if it’s sunny (we actually had our engagement photos taken here)

Some time out of the city is always nice - north you have places on Lake Simcoe and Lake Huron. Barrie is meant to be nice but we stayed in Collingwood for a week one summer and did lots of bike rides and boating.

Niagara on the Lake is a must stop in my opinion. Get ice cream from Cows and just walk around!

Let me know if you have any more questions. I’ve a load of restaurant recs too- the food is SO good in Toronto. It’s so multicultural you can get anything and everything.

We spent a full week in Toronto and it is amazing.
We went to Niagara for the day, we did a private hire tour as for 4 of us there was about £50 difference to the coach trip. This enabled us to pick and choose where we stopped and for how long.
CN Tower has a restaurant at the top, the food was incredible and the restaurant itself rotates showing all the sights during your meal. It was not cheap, but it means you don’t pay the usual entry fee to go up the tower so by the time you take that into account it’s so worth it. We did this for DHs 50th and it was so special.
The airport train is so easy, we stayed in the financial district, the airport train has two stops and it’s was so cheap and easy and goes out of the terminal.
We stayed in Trump international which is now the Adelaide and its very posh but worth it for a special trip. There are even TVs in the mirror in the bath room. The swimming pool was on a high floor with views from the hot tub.
Loved Steam Whistle brewery tour and a trip to the islands. We visited in Oct and the weather was autumnal but still ok with a fleece.
We also did a Segway tour at the Distillery District, that was one of the highlights. Such a laugh.
Make sure you get a beavers tail, yum we had a peanut butter one... mmmmmmm...
Lovely city to walk around.
Please ask if you need any more info.
Happy planning.

The CN Tower restaurant used to set menu for lunch which was maybe $15 more than a ticket, so great value.

Last year we spent 3 nights at Niagra Falls - and did a day trip up to Toronto.
Before we drove over the border - we spent some time at the USA side Falls National Park and really enjoyed it there - was a very nice park with great views form US side - although the views from the Canadian side are better. Think it was $10 to park the car.

I totally agree Niagra is a bit tacky, and we did not stay in a falls view Hotel - stayed in the Sterling Inn and Spa and the rooms were lovely. Really enjoyed the falls, but we were unlucky with the weather - was a bit cool for early Sept. 3 nights was too much really - could probably do it in one night.

We drove up to Toronto (the direct train from Niagra stops running on 1st Sept) - well just South of Toronto, parked in a train station and took the train in to Toronto.
Did not find too many touristy things in Toronto, but maybe I was not researched enough. Loved the St Lawrence Market, and the Eaton Centre was a nice mall, and it was a nice city to wander round.

Never went to Niagra On the Lake - and that seems to have been a mistake.

If we went back, I'd consider staying on the US side and walking over the bridge to see the falls from the other side.

We went for 5 nights and did a day trip to the Falls. I wouldn't go for any less and felt it was the perfect amount of time. My trippie is in my signature of you want to get an idea of what you can do in that amount of time.
