Healthy family friendly dining recommendations outside the parks.
Hello.
Does anyone have any healthy ideas/recommendations on places to take a 22month old? He's a good eater with a very well balanced diet. I'm keen to get his 5 a day into him. I like a chicken tender as much as the next person and I'm aware there must be other options, I just haven't been in recent years or ever had to worry about a little ones diet before. Idea's would be greatly appreciated as all I can think of Sweet tomatoes and Panera bread. Many Thanks |

You can get sides of veggies at most places including the steakhouses like Texas Roadhouse.
Bob Evans does good ‘homestyle’ food, as do Cracker Barrel. |

I would say most steakhouses are good options (Longhorn’s Outback” as you could easily give him from your plate if you order grilled chicken, baked potato, mash, veg. Most those places do veg side orders too.

My daughter doesn’t like chicken tenders, burgers, hot dogs etc and doesn’t particularly like fries. So she always had steak, fish (not breaded or battered) or grilled chicken breast and she always chose veg or salad as her side.
I must admit this was not ordered to be healthy but just what she preferred. She is on adult meals now. My youngest can’t eat tomatoes, doesn’t like nuggets, burgers or hot dogs or fries, so he mainly has meat like my daughter used to. For his side he has plain pasta with a little grated Parmesan cheese or butter pasta. Also, loads of stalls/stands have lovely, juicy fruit in tubs that sit in ice so they are lovely and cold. We all go mad for the melon lol apart from my youngest who can’t have fruit. Just to add, my children have eaten at Disney restaurants and off site, millers Ale house, Cheesecake Factory, carrabbas etc. If it’s not an option to swap fries for fruit, salad or veg just ask because we find everywhere really helpful Edited at 09:57 PM. |
