Hi, if I wear a money belt will I have to remove it when I go through security or can I just keep it under my clothes? Thank you

I would take it off as any abnormal lumps and bumps under your clothes could look suspicious and get you some unwanted attention.

Just don't fancy putting it in those trays which any one could get hold of.

Do you have a carry on bag which has a section you can padlock. That’s what we do with valuables. Put them in that section of your bag as it goes in the tray and keep the key.

If it needs to be opened after the tray has gone through you have the key.

We do the same onboard as your overhead luggage may sometimes not be above you if it’s full and even its above us we don’t have to keep an eye on anything valuable in it as that part of the bag is locked.

As well as the putting it in your carry on, we always go through security with the wife first then the kids then me, that way she is at the end of the scanner to collect my carry on as it has all the money, passports etc just in case I got delayed getting through.

As you are told to remove wallets and belts, then you would have to remove a money belt. Unless you are TSA pre approved and going through US security.

'any one could get hold of'.
Well as you are meant to stay with your tray until it reaches the xray machine, and you are the other side when it comes out, then the 'anyone' would have to be someone quiet small that could sneak through the xray machine.

Also, if your money belt went missing during transportation through the xray machine, then I am sure that there maybe one or two cameras that would capture the theft. You dont usually get to many thefts going through security. I have taken many devices through security over the world that are worth more than what would be in your money belt and never had anything go missing.

I wear a money belt. I always take it off when going through airport security - I'm fairly sure that this is because in the distant past I've had at least a couple of times where I didn't do so and got flagged up by the scanners.

What I tend to do is to head to the toilets before security and take off the money belt and put it inside my zipped bag, before heading through security. This is so that it isn't so obvious to people around me at security that I have a money belt in my bag when going through security!

How do you get the key thro? As you have to put all items from your pockets ( coins etc) in the tray or on your bag.
