Moana Surfrider is also lovely.

I am not so keen on the HHV. I have not stayed there admittedly but the location is not so good and it’s so very big and feels a bit ‘corporate’ to me compared to many other Waikiki hotels (which tend to be small due to the lack of available space there).

There are some other really nice options around
I just love how Royal Hawaiian is pink, never seen anything like it! I think RH and Moana Surfrider are top of my list but I’d like a balcony with ocean or part-ocean view so I need to hope the pricing is kind to me... 🤞🏼

Outrigger is another good option. Never stayed but visited many times and tends to be more affordable. You’re going to pay a premium for ocean view as relatively few rooms face them (partly because relatively few hotels are ocean front). They designed Aulani in the horseshoe shape to make as many rooms ocean view as possible (but even there I had one OV view room which had, frankly, a very disappointing view from the balcony).

Certain hotels have quite nice rooms that aren’t ocean view actually so I’ll have to have a look when booking, as long as it’s a decent view even if it’s of a mountain I don’t mind as much but don’t want to overlook a car park or something!

It’s frustrating waiting for bookings to open... it’s going to be a few more days for my dates!
