All those fancy cards are great until something has gone wrong and they have stopped working. The people who operate them do not have the infrastructure in place to help you in a timely manner. I usually take a bit of cash and use my Halifax clarity card for most of my spend. I also use it to take cash advance BUT pay it back immediately that night, that way you just end up with a couple of pence interest payment. I have a secondary credit card in case something happens to my Clarity card and my normal bank card for emergencies.

Same principle.
That actually happened to me back in 2019. Arrived at my Disney resort and was just about to use my Revolut as the room-linked card when I saw an alert that my card had been used to reserve a room at a Wyndham resort in Orlando. Card must have been skimmed on my way through the airport. Fortunately, I was able to lock and cancel the card, but had to forego using the Dollars that I had loaded on it just in case. Wyndham were next to useless in trying to hunt down the culprit.
