Travel Insurance for 2022

Hi

in normal times we had an annual insurance policy for the family holidays which we renewed every year

I’m planning on booking Florida for Aug 22 soon - flights, car and house

When do I need to get the insurance policy again to be covered for any cancellations - ie covid

Thanks in advance

We usually have an annual policy as well, but we are living in strange times.

We have a trip booked in September 21 and another for May 22 but haven't booked travel insurance yet as due to our pre existing medical conditions it is usually very costly. Instead we have only booked reward flights for September not booked yet for May, accommodation and car hire for both which are all fully refundable if we cancel.

I would double check this, because at the moment there are very few providers that will cover for Covid. As it is a known event.
I double checked something with my insurance provider and asked them about Covid and possible going to the us next year, their response was: At the moment if the US stays in the Amber category and doesn't change by next year. I would not be covered at all as the advice is not to travel to an amber country. (hoping it won't)
2. If US did go onto the green list we would only be covered if a member of the travelling party got I'll with Covid not if any of our close relatives got Covid. I think this is really important to bare in mind at the moment.

I’ve been looking at Staysure. They offer Covid cover but they’re not cheap 😂

They offer Covid cover but there are terms that I don’t understand! Surely if holidays are not permitted to US on departure date then the holiday company should allow you to move dates or get a refund?
