We both upgraded to Paperwhites around 5 years ago and all I remember was how easy it was. As soon as we created our accounts on the new ones all the old stuff migrated across automatically. That was 5 years ago so I imagine it's got even more efficient. Joan and I share the same Kindle account.
When we buy new books and the "send to" drop down list appears it still shows the old Kindles so I imagine if you buy books for your mum there will be an option to send them to the old Kindle and read them there. Mick
