I was browsing the website for Blue Springs SP as I know the weather has been cold in Florida which attracts the manatees to shelter - apparently the park staff counted 524. Sad we can't be there to visit but a quick look at the webcams is worth it.

Blue Springs SP broke their Manatee record yesterday between the SP staff and the amazing Wayne and Cora they spotted 624 manatees yesterday.

Must have been wall to wall manatees

We usually visit the power station at Apollo Beach which has a fantastic manatee viewing area. It’s open from November through to spring. Last January there were hundreds of manatees whereas we often see maybe a dozen or so. If anyone is staying on the Gulf Coast it’s definitely worth a visit.

Fort Myers power station has a lot of manatee. Years ago FM PS (LCEC) stopped releasing warm water until the big boys stepped in - it now keeps so many manatee warm. Superb to see them - click HERE for the web site.
