Well, things are moving very slowly. My DDs 18th birthday was a lovely afternoon, she agreed to have family round including my dad and BIL who she hadn't seen for 6 months.

She has managed some more nights at home , starting with one night a week , recently moving on to two, which we are trying to fit in so she can try going to college .

But it has been very difficult for her ( and us ). . Her anxiety levels are through the roof , food times are often hell on earth , yet she still refuses to divulge what her problems are

She is theoretically due to be discharged from the adolescent ward in December , but I don't think she will be ready ( neither does she ).so I can see her having to go on an adult ward, which she is strictly opposed too - though she doesn't want to come home full time either.

College is intensely difficult for her . We are considering letting her drop it , as it just isn't worth the anxiety it causes , but we are unsure if this is even an option.

I wish she would let us in the world that is in her head. Maybe then we could help her more. She continues to have suicidal thoughts and my wife today found her with a paper clip to her neck . We just don't know how to tackle the situation we find ourselves in.

Sorry this isn't quite a positive as the last update

I'm sorry to read this, your poor daughter, I can only imagine your heartache as a parent seeing your daughter go through this. I'll mention this as it had a positive outcome, my neighbours daughter had anorexia when she was 18, she was admitted to a house/hospital for care, she had to go in a wheelchair for a bit so she wasn't using calories walking etc. She managed to carry on with her studies as she wanted to be a vet. Fast forward a few yrs she is now a qualified vet, and for the first time in about five yrs she looks a healthy weight. It will take time but really hoping your daughter will get through this illness too, best wishes to you all xx

Sorry to hear your daughter isn't making such great progress. Sometimes there's a lightbulb moment and it is onwards and upwards from there. I hope that moment comes for you, and soon. I know, first hand, the trauma that mental health issues (in whatever form) wreak on families. DD is doing well at the moment, she recently made some life changing decisions and I felt overwhelmed that she was in a position to even make those decisions, let alone carry them out. My thoughts are with you all. Stay strong x

I am sorry, that your daughters progress isn't great but progress is being made but at least she is home more.
In relation to college I believe she would be able to drop/defer due to medical reasons, I would speak to the college. I think it would be a good idea as it would lower her anxiety.
I wish you and your daughter all the best.
