Directions from South Wales to Bristol Airport

Hi All I'm trying to find the directions to Bristol airport.My old sat nav use to take us through some country lanes with lovely houses can't remember the name of the village this was much quicker than going anywhere near the city centre.I remember some one saying that the people in the village that the sat nav took you through had had enough and was trying to get this route taken off the sat nav and send them a different way which you can't blame them hope this might jog someones memory.My new sat nav is taking us a different way.

Have you tried Google Directions, they sometimes show you three choices of routes, that might jog your memory as then you can use the little man to have a look around too on street view

Depends on time of day. Cross the seven bridge on m4 take m49, take m5 exit and then come off at East Gordano services. Turn left and then take immediate right to Portbury village. Careful with sharp left turn in village as it is followed by short one lane section. Follow all the way up the hill until T junction. Turn left continue past Failand until you approach A370. You want to go under bridge and head South. A few hundred metres and you come to new link road turn left. Follow to first roundabout and turn right onto A38 which goes straight to the airport. The village you mention is probably Barrow Gurney. They have redone this road and made it worse. Give way sign before a blind corner, awesome. This route avoids that village.
