Wedding CD - Import Tax?
Got married 2 weeks ago at Cocoa Beach and Wedding photos being sent on a Cd.
Got home to a letter stating have to pay another £20 for Import Tax ? Anyone else had to pay this ? Didn't realise I would have to pay more for my own disc of photos? probably me being naïve but think they've now got me over a barrel |

I can only speak on general terms of receiving goods from abroad before, but I believe it goes on what the sender marked the value of the item sent as.
I think if it's below the value of £18 then no import duty is owed. If the sender has marked it as above that value then there's not much you can do other than try contact the sender to send a revised customs declaration to the courier/shipper. It's a shame the sender didn't just mark the value as £5 or whatever as I imagine it's easily replaceable by them if lost in the post. I hope this makes sense. |

it's only £15 now before taxes etc kick in
I know this won't help but a few years ago we had a Cd sample of a photographer and he marked it as $99 value so I would have had to pay (let it get sent back) - I think they put a higher value in case it's lost so they can claim on insurance?
