This is a problem I keep seeing in places like Blaze or the resort food courts where you watch the CMs dish up your food in front of you. They have lots of veggie/vegan food but just very little awareness of the need to use separate gloves or tongs. I've also heard reports lately of veggie food cooked with meat/fish and I've had to be really firm about asking CMs to use separate pans when ordering make your own pasta or omelette type meals after they've tried to use pans they've just cooked meat dishes in to then cook my veggie food.
The chefs are aware and willing to accommodate us if we ask them, but regular food and beverage CMs are clueless. They seem to think that as long as a food item doesn't contain meat or fish, then it's veggie enough. I used to tick the 'other' box in the allergy section when making ADRs, then specify vegetarian to my server at the restaurant. On the last few trips though the servers have been quite dismissive and have been reluctant to send out a chef, yet have been insistent that items containing gelatine, animal fat, fish oil/sauce or non veggie cheeses have been suitable for vegetarians. Once at a dessert party I asked for somebody to walk me through the buffet to explain what was and wasn't veggie. The person they sent over told me to order a special allergy dessert selection instead as it was safer and a walk through would take too long. I asked if the allergy selection contained gelatine and he said no but fetched an allergy book so I could check when I pressed him. Looking through it, the few allergy selections all contained gelatine in most items, but I found at the back of the book a list of every item on the buffet's ingredients and I scrambled for some paper and a pen and went through that instead, making a list of what we could eat. This took a while and the guy hovered getting pretty impatient. Eventually he asked me to please hurry as they only had the one allergy book and other people had asked to see it. I think veggies and vegans just need to be aware that although there is veggie food, the preparation can be lacking and that we need to be firm when making sure it's prepared in a way that is suitable for us to eat. At least I don't get offered 'vegetarian' options that contain fish like I have in the past at Disneyland Paris though... |

Very true about the prep, shared fryers are my biggest bug bear
we have almost stopped eating QS stuff, as imho its far better to speak to a chef at any TS place, if a Chef will not come out, we threaten to leave we will stick to Chef TJ and some of the other chef's who seem to understand |

Thanks for this - I'll have a look too.
It's great that this has recent experiences/reviews. The problem I have is that I keep finding old videos or blogs but the menus change so often that they can be out of date by the time I've found them. I'm always on the lookout for new veggie Disney vlogs or blogs so if anyone has seen any up to date ones I'd love to hear about them. |

I've been several times to wdw now and things have progressed from only being to have mac and cheese and pizza. It's very sad that they are cooking vegan vegetarian food in meat pans. I always fear eating out as it is. I remember going to liberty tree tavern and being offered chicken as a vegetarian option
One of my favourites is the lighthouse sandwich in Columbia harbour house magic kingdom |

We are not vegan or vegetarian (we eat fish). I also avoid
Boca type stuff as too processed. Both my son and I wwere impressed by the vegetarian black bean burger at Restaurantosaurus in AK. It appeared to be a burger that was made at the venue, not a frozen piece of yuck. |
