My hubby is a joiner, he's given himself the title "wood butcher" . Should maybe put chief at the front, make him feel more important.

Ahh they all call themselves anything now.

When I did my 4 year apprenticeship there were 6 distinct trades
Cabinet Maker
Joiner
Carpenter & Joiner - Me!
Carpenter
Shuttering Carpenter
Wood Machinist.

You were one or the other and thats what your indentures showed.

Not exciting or major issues, but all say the same thing so just leave it alone.

The area I work in like to use acronyms alot, there are:
AM
SGM
DOM
MOM

The list is endless but basically all have manager at the end.
Ah yes, our call centre managers have had about 3 titles in the last few years but their jobs don't change.

My team all have manager in our titles but no people management. Our boss however isn't a manager but a team leader!

Love Cornwall - women are "maids" and men are "mi han'some"

Wench means nothing more than "young woman" but the PC brigade like to think otherwise.

Where I work, they like to do big projects like the current one - rolling out Windows 10 and Office 365 to all staff.

Each team has a contact person who collates all the info, liaises with the IT guys and highlights any problems.

They are called the Single Point of Contact, or SPOC.

If I am asked "Who's your SPOC?" I have a terrible desire to say "Well, Zachary Quinto is doing a fine job, but it has to be Leonard Nimoy, surely?"

He's officially a cabinet maker. As in sure you've experienced, not too many people know the difference these days so joiner is a lot easier 😂 his dad was a shipwright (I'm not even sure that's the correct spelling as I'd never heard it before fil)

A few of my contacts now have "Specialist" attached to the end of their roles

I.e... "Customer service specialist" = answers the helpdesk phone

A shipwright is a person in the trade of yacht and/or shipbuilding. Where my DH comes from in Cornwall there is a small but famous shipbuilding yard. All its operatives are Shipwrights.
