San Fransisco plans

Hi
Having read many posts and trip reports we are close to finalising our plans but would appreciate comments and suggestions
We are a family of 4 from the UK with 2 daughters 13 & 16, staying at the Donatello for 4 nights early August via a timeshare swop.
We land around 1.30 on Sunday, and plan to take an Uber or Lyft to our Hotel. Having been travelling for some 15 hours, this is my one area on what to do for a few hours on our first afternoon/evening, thinking Chinatown for a wander then something to eat near our hotel
Monday, we have the Dylan’s ultimate tour booked, so early breakfast then to FW for the tour. After take cable car back to Union Square for dinner
Tuesday, take Uber to Lands End and take the hike for a couple of hours, then Uber to FW for lunch and do the touristy things. We then have Alcatraz evening tour
Wednesday, go visit in more leisurely time our favourite sites from Dylan’s tour, thinking of Big Bus HOHO tour to get around, maybe spend some time in Sausalito too.

Thursday pick up hire car back at airport for the rest of our trip. Yosemite, Disney, LA then back up PCH.

I would cycle across the GG bridge and then spend some time in Sausalito. Coit tower was good, great views and nice icrecream close by around Washington Square. The Ferry building was nice and you can take a nice walk from there along the water to FW. I would put together little things like that rather than pay again for the HOHO which will be a bit repetitious. If you want to go back to a favourite from Dylan’s you could Uber or use public transport.

Regarding cable car to Union Square, be prepared to have a long wait! We had to wait an hour to get one to take us to Powell Street early evening...

Thanks all
Cycling across the bridge was something I wanted to do but my 16yo DD hasn’t been on a bike in years and is currently saying no
Cable cars yes we know we will be queuing for longer than the ride

We hired a car one day, drove across the bridge, stopped on the other side for photos, dropped into Sausalito for a mooch and a bite to eat and then drove up to Muir Woods which is stunning and highly recommended.

We came back roughly the same way and via Lombard Street before dropping the car off. We were staying at the Hilton Union Square and there was a car hire place in the multi-storey over the road. It wa a great day.

If you have the time we did a nice walk from Aquatic Park which is near the pick up for Dylan's Tour and along the Bay Trail to Presidio. It passed through Fort Mason, a marina, beach area and Crissy Fields. Once we got to Presidio we took one of the free buses on a loop and got off at Golden Gate Bridge which gave us a different view to the one from the Dylan's Tour. We also went to the Disney museum which was very interesting. We then got one if the free buses back rather than walking. Have a good trip!

There are Segway tours as well as bike hires if you wanted something different.
We walked back from the Disney Family Museum via Chrissy Fields, to F Wharf, a lovely walk.

if you just want the experience of the car car, take the California line. No waits, no tourists.
