They are quite strict about it, and you can't add it together - when did VA start giving 24k, it's always been 23k checked and 10k hand luggage?

I thought it was 23kg hold and 10kg hand luggage.

If thought the limit was 23kg not 24kg but I’d think 23.6kg would be ok but have no experience to back this up.

How accurate are your own scales ? If it starts to push 24kg you may have an issue but probably down to the individual you deal with.

Are you sure it's 24kg as 23kg is the common baggage allowance.

Will you get in trouble? That depends on the person at bag drop. Sometimes you'll be fine and the bag will just be sent through. You might be asked to spread the weight between other bags and hand luggage or, if there's no way to spread or remove, you'll be asked to pay for excess baggage. The charges will be in the T's and C's and vary between airlines.

Yes. Its 23kg and case is 22.6kg

Sorry yes we re just under and i apologise for confusion

My scales are fairly accurate

There is room in handluggage (volume and weight) if i need to remove stuff just hoping i dont have to cart it around iyswim.

Going you may get away with being just over the 23 kg limit for 1 case going but they are very strict when coming home. Last year a family were in the embarrassing position of opening their 4 cases to move stuff around. The ground staff where taking no prisoners that day even weighed hand luggage. totally relieved when we only had under 20 kg each.

That's the top and bottom of it.

Reduce the chances by sticking a jumper and jeans once in the aircon of the airport rather than travelling home in shorts, with heavy stuff in your bags.
If you have a bottle of pop, take it out and indicate you are drinking it, so they don't weigh it like they would if it were in your bags.

We were slightly over with BA at Tampa a few years ago and they made use open cases and move some things from our checked luggage to our hand luggage otherwise they would have charged us.
