Magic Bands

Still trying to get my head around these magic bands things.

We are living offsite so advantages for us would be

1. Not having to find tickets whilst going through entrance gates
2. Not having to find fast pass tickets
3. And the one that we really need it for - to get ride photos - we are part of a photoshare

Is that correct?

Also am I correct in thinking that I can't get them until I get out to Orlando? My in laws are out there at the moment - is there any benefit in them buying them for us - or is that not possible?

I think we only really need one because its really only for 3 above that we require it - however I was thinking it might be more useful for it to be bought for the children rather than us (if so I would get 2)
- what does anyone think about that?

Yep! Absolutely correct. The priviledge you obviously don't get is being able to charge stuff to your room.

They are also good fun we stayed off site last year and got them on our 2nd day in downtown disney, linking to tickets was done when we bought them. Very helpful way of getting around and using your fast pass plus.

So can I not get my in-laws to get them for me whilst they are out there?

And what does anyone think about just the kids having the bands?

If your kids just have them you will still need to dig your tickets out each time you enter or use a Fastpass so I would get them for all of you.

We purchaced them last time we were off site, they are much more convenient than tickets. Each person needs to link their ticket to their band, under threes will not need one as the do not have tickets or fastpass but our two year old had one so not yo be left out, he loved it. Get one for everyone. The stores will link up the tickets and bands for you when you buy them. I think you would be best waiting until you got there, they are widely available.

You can also pick them up at the Disney Earport shop and the airport!
for me they were far easier than tickets less fiddling around

yes they can be brought home for you, and linked via the MDE app at a later date
I had a friend get me the Mickey mouse band as I wanted mine prior to my trip in September, I didn't want to wait, its all linked and I love looking at it lol
