Perm but...

Not the frizzy type.

My hair is getting long and due to living off grid, the summer months hair gadgets are ok but in the winter it’s a pain.

So I thought I’d try a perm to keep a style in

Like these

Or

Or... my hairs grey

Is there such a thing as a very soft perm for longer hair?

There are soft perms but you can’t have a perm really that looks like the photos you have posted. They are all done with wands etc to create beach waves.

From past experience many years ago, those styles are achievable with a lot of hard work.

I rembember years ago wondering the exact same thing... i was hoping to read this thread and find out it was now possible! I love this sort of look. To all the hairdressers out there, why is it not possible to get a perm to create this sort of wave? Is it to do with the wieght of hair or something? Just curious, i havent a clue about any of it! I imagine even if you could perm this type of curl it would still need a lot of looking after and/or some sort of styling everyday to achieve this? Can you tell i dont do anything with my hair? I dont even own a hairdryer... 😕

According to articles I have read it is achievable by a perm so I too would like to understand. I just want a wash and go style!

If I wash and go my hair would look like that, particularly second photo which is my length and colour. Instead I spend a lot of time straightening it out. DH tells me I should leave it to dry naturally, it is ok the first day if I do that but after sleeping on it it is a disaster.

I look like a scarecrow dragged backwards through a hedge.

I’m not a hair doer. I can’t cut it short as it grows at the rate of knots and I’d be permanently at the hairdressers equally I find shorter hair harder to style. I like to be able to put up my hair or not as I feel.

Never satisfied

The problem is the size of the perm rods! The size you would need for that type of wave would need to be about 3-4 inches in diameter which as far as I am aware just doesn’t exist. Also the curl would be so loose it would literally drop out and be straight. If I could perm like that I could retire, I promise.
