light topic - what is the funniest thing happen on holiday?

hubby loves telling everyone who dosnt know, what happened at Gatwick airport in 2008 when we first flew to the USA.
we was told by the travel agent, the USA are strict on immergration, and to expect interigation at the border control.

so checking in our luggage, i had just put all our cases on the weighing belt, and held my hand luggage in my hand.

She asked lee if that was everything, he said yes, then asked if we had any hand luggage. he said yes pointing to me.

i was talking to the kids at this point so wasnt listening to the exchanges between them both until she asked me to hold up my hand... i dropped the hand luggage to the floor and held up my hands, she continued to say ...luggage. she laughed, hubby was laughing uncontrollably, the kids was laughing althouh they didnt know what they were laughing at and so was the check in staff.

of course i explained i was aware of tight restrictions due to 09/11 and thought that was part of it

i dished my dirt, now you dish yours?!

One that comes to mind is a day when we went to Busch Gardens
It was august and unbelievably hot so we all stood on the bridge looking at the drop on Tidal wave in the big wet area hoping to get drenched! Ds who was about 8 at the time stood off to the side as he didn’t like getting wet
When the car came down the hill and hit the water a massive wave of water managed to bypass me, Dh and dd completely and absolutely drench ds!
We were in hysterics and luckily ds handled it ok

Every single time my partner gives his name in the USA its as if he has just said the most rare, unpronounceable name ever! His name is John Watson however I think the Yorkshire accent completely throws them because he always has to say it 2 or 3 times! Its now a running joke and I never book anything just to see how wrong/awkward/funny it is when he has to go and tell them his name!

Our first night at disneyworld I sat on someone’s chocolate ice cream on the floor of magic kingdom. Yep, in a very unfortunate place on my shorts. I sulked the rest of the evening as the family found it hilarious and even left me to watch illuminations as I couldn’t bare to be seen in public as we had nothing to cover it up!

When I was 10 my grandparents came to Florida with us. We were in magic kingdom and my grandma wanted to try a ride. As I was a massive wimp but would go on big thunder mountain she decided it couldn’t be that bad if I would ride it so she came on. Poor woman was terrified the entire ride and we laughed so hard at her, it was hilarious! She’s passed away now and this makes me think so fondly of her.

I've written about this before on here, but Harry Potter Forbidden Journey. I'm not a great one for rides and although I know that I'm not on a broomstick, I held on so tightly that when it was time to get off, my hands and arms wouldn't work to release the restraints. All DH could do was laugh as I shouted for help and moved along towards the people waiting to board. The staff got me off just in time to bounce off the barrier between platforms, which is when I found my legs didn't work and I could only turn left and hold onto the wall. They gave me water and escorted me straight out of the castle through a 'secret' exit. The kids still laugh about it now.

We hired bikes in Miami to cycle some bridges. I had a peach short and vest top combo on
Then I realised my best shoes for cycling were black trainers but would need socks also had bright pink laces .
Ok not the best ,but in the sunshine an ok look for a 48 yr old mum
Unfortunately we were about 7 miles away and it poured tropical style and didn’t stop
At the same time my saddle decided to keep collapsing every so often
As we neared the bike shop in town it gave in altogether
So I cycled into Miami as a fat peach wet lady with bad shoes on a bike with her knees up to her chin going oww oww oww as my knee started hurting from the extra strain
DH took a picture when we got back and the whole family were crying laughing 😂
