I have little issue with them being ridden legally and sensibly, I also agree that road sense should be taught to anyone using the roads. (Not that it prevents even some drivers from acting like idiots...)
There used to be a dad that picked up his child from the same school as mine when they were young. He used to be on his mobility scooter with his reception aged child on their scooter. He would hurtle along the pavements while holding the front of the childs scooter and towing them along. No helmet on the child or anything and he would be doing quite some speed. My heart used to be in my mouth every time. If he came up behind anyone on the pavement he would yell 'need to get past! ' until the person stood in the road or against the wall to let them through.

We used to do cycling proficiency at school where a policeman came up and taught us to be safe. Not sure they still do that now.

Yes, I did too but I also drive. My kids never did My OH is a cyclist but has never driven so has never been taught the rules of the road.
(He always says I cycle like a driver 😅
Didn't really understand until I did some cycle training.)
Most if the e-scooter users I see are too young to have driven legally😒

They still do it but it’s run by Bikeabilty now.
They increased the height of the seat on my sons bike so much he could barely touch the floor and he fell over and broke his arm.🙈

Oh don’t say that!
DD’s was meant to be in March but the school moved it to December ( great idea 😑 ) and I
don’t want them fiddling around with her bike.

Oh no, sorry, I don't want to worry you. They send a letter home that says how the bike should be adjusted for the child, which we did but the guy checking them obviously thought his seat should have been higher than he had it. When they adjusted it the only way he could touch the floor was with one foot when he kind of plopped the bike over to one side. Of course he came to a stop, tried to do it and toppled over, straight onto his arm.

Ah no it’s ok, I was being dramatic.
I thought they should be on tip toes, not anything higher than that although my dd’s does need raising a bit.
Your poor ds!

Funnily enough, about an hour ago I saw a bunch of school kids from the school opposite doing their cycling proficiency (at least I assume that was what it was). I've never seen that before.

Not sure how well the guy leading them would manage with about a dozen primary school kids trying to ride bikes on the roads around here.

I see a 20 year old has died & his e-scooter 'passenger' is critical after being in collision with a car! Can only get worse with more deaths the way things are going with the dam things!

Hate the things with a passion. My friends partner is critically ill in hospital after an accident on one last weekend, and I have seen first hand the devastation they can cause, a heartbroken family sitting around awaiting 'that' phone call from ICU is just horrific.
