Help Please - New Esta Applications

I am today doing everyone's new Esta applications and I have gone onto the official site and it is very different from the site I used before, although the same web address.

This site seems to be asking a lot more questions? Doing them first for my parents who are late 60's and it asks for their parents names? Does that sound right? Their parents are not with us anymore!

Also my son is bringing his girlfriend who is 17. Her mom is divorced and they don't see dad anymore, do I still have to put his name on the Esta or the name of her step dad?

There are more questions now.
Make sure you follow the Dibb link to the official esta site, should cost $14 per person.
Try not to overthink the questions, there is a little question mark icon next to each question, if you click on here it gives you more info on how to answer.

Can't help with how to answer the questions, but I can confirm that the application process did change recently(ish) and there are more questions than there used to be.
Try clicking the little question mark next to each question for info on how to answer it - don't know if that will help at all?

I have filled everything in but it keeps saying required fields are indicated by a red asterisk!

They are all filled in! I want to scream!

Deep breaths, lol, it can be a bit maddening.
Click the little question mark icon to make sure the answers you've given match what should be in there (i.e. In one of the address fields I'm sure it says 'do not enter zip code' or something).

This used to be so straight forward!

It is asking me for a contact name in America and I have put n/a?

Ah Ok, you can't put N/A. You enter the contact number of the hotel you're staying at first, or I think you can just enter like 00000000. I put in the contact number for my hotel.
Have a little look at the Dibb page here: http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/ESTA...tion-p-82.html

It has some more info on how to fill the forms out!

It also asks you to put in a point of contact in the US, this is new. I just put my own name and the name of our first hotel (we are on a road trip so there are many ahead) and it got accepted. This seems to have replaced the address whilst in the US question.
Previously they used to ask for airline and flight number, that's gone now.

It is a longer application and more questions, including a point of contact in UK (good addition for me). Just go through it one question at a time, the suggestions above are good.

The parents question means birth parents and it does not matter if dead, I suspect they are looking for nationality and known criminality.

Ok that's it. The computer is going through the window!

It simply won't accept anything. I am going to cry. Everything is filled in. It says under the question mark if I don't have a point of contact enter name of hotel with address and telephone number. It says fill in all areas with a red asterisk but when it goes back doesn't tell me what is wrong.

Take a deep breath ...

It's probably something really simple like the phone number not being in the right format. Under the question mark it should tell you what to fill in if this is not known, I think as someone has previously posted it's 00000000 instead of the phone number. Just keep persevering.
