Passport Help

Hi, I have contacted the passport office about this and awaiting reply. Just asking if anyone had any advice or been in a similar situtation.

Myself and my partner are in the process of adopting the boys and are in the final stages. We have a court date set for mid February, meaning we should hopefully have some paperwork by the time we fly on 15th March 2019. However there is a chance we may not have the necessary paperwork to complete the passport application.

If the court rules in our favour there will be effectively 21 days before the we can receive the paperwork which is the 13th March 2019. However as this is a transition process they will legally be our children not the local authority.

Now here is the tricky part, would we be better to apply now through the local authority and use their current legal name or apply for an on the day appointment for the 14th March as we travel to the airport?

We have the copies of other legal paperwork with us and can get other paperwork from the social worker if needed as we would prefer to only apply once in the boys new legal name instead of twice.
