I have heard similar - Princess for Alaska.

I can highly recommend Harv and Marvs for whale watching. We did it in Juneau and it was by far the best excursion we've ever done. Not for the wildlife we saw, even though that was amazing anyway, but the whole shebang - the booking, the staff, the process - all brilliant. DCL use them for their excursions but we booked direct to save a ton of money. Brilliant company.

I read Mels trippie about her Alaska cruise, and I thought the trippie was great, but given I normally also travel solo I’m not sure it’s quite for me.
The entertainment just didn’t seem to be perfectly aimed at me, I have an inside cabin too, so I just don’t really want to spend any real time there outside of sleeping.
I also really do appreciate a drinks package as I do like a cocktail to pass the time.
NCL bliss is there next year, and it just has so much to do on the ship, and for £99 I’d get free drinks and a 3 meal speciality package.

Hello everyone
I just thought I’d offer my tuppenceworth here.
We sailed with Celebrity from Seattle and thoroughly enjoyed it.
We opted for that particular cruise for a few reasons but if I had to do Alaska a second time, I might take a different route.
Easier if I summarise:
1. We wanted a round trip...not all from Vancouver are round trips, some are one way and so involve flight to or back from Alaska. Extra cost and flight times to take into consideration.

2. We had been in Vancouver the year before so didn’t want to do it two years in a row. Vancouver is fabulous and we would be happy to return in the future but we enjoyed Seattle very much too.

3. The Seattle route involves two days of ocean cruising ie.nothing to see. Vancouver routes seem to have much more Inside Passage cruising which is absolutely spectacular. A vote here for a Vancouver departure.

4. We noticed when in port, that Princess definitely appeared to have the preferred docks to Celebrity.
We sometimes had shuttle buses into town. Not sure if size of ship played any part in that or whether they just are the major players.

In short, our cruise was amazing, no regrets but if I’d to do another one I might consider departing from Vancouver for more inside passage cruising. It is breath taking.
If you have any questions, please ask away and I shall try and answer.
