Annual pass strategies

Hi, we’re currently looking at annual passes and have some questions. We want to go in October half term and have noticed only the most expensive pass covers this now!

1. If we stay at a Disney Hotel, does this cancel out the blackout days?
2. If we stay at a Disney Hotel, will we get Early Magic Hours regardless of annual pass type?
3. If the above are true, could one family member get say the Magic Plus pass to take advantage of discounts and the rest of the family get Discover?

2. Yep, you get in with your hotel key card/magic pass
3. Yes, this is a frequent strategy I see people doing.

One thing to add is that staying on site does not bypass the two compulsory blocked days you get after buying the cheapest pass.

So if you want to get these you'd need to buy them online so they're activated ahead of your trip.

Just to add RE the blockout days... I believe the online site that you purchase from is all in french from what I’ve read.

I ended up purchasing over the phone (number is on annual pass info page) they then sent me temp park tickets in the post to access the park and then collected our passes from the annual pass office in the park. They are then fully activated from that day.
Only downside was the queue time when we got there, as they had to take picture and go through contract etc.

OP, is you to choose to do this route you wouldn't be able to get the cheapest category of AP due to the compulsory block-out days on day 2 and 3 of owning these passes. All other category of pass will be absolutely fine though.

I believe you can also apply by post and get the fully validated pass sent to you but I've never done this so cannot comment on how easy and straightforward this is.

Just a quick question, as I only realised about the two blocked days from reading this thread! If I buy our annual passes online on the French website, can I have them posted to the UK?

I bought our AP's online and had them posted to UK. Was a bit worried initially as the page is all in French but used google translate and was easy. You have to upload photos of everyone too and then get activated AP's sent out.

We are going in May and was planning to buy Magic plus APs, however we have always stayed in a Disney hotel so after reading this thread am considering the cheaper passes.
I can't see any info about black out days not counting if you stay onsite, is it anywhere on the website? Are you still able to get in by scanning your pass if it's a blackout day?

Am I missing something, or have things changed? Do you not get park tickets with your Disney hotel stay?
