I don’t know if this is realistic or not but for the pass few years, Virgin have come out a lot more expensive for an on-site stay for us in October. Some of the Virgin quotes are looking good but the exchange has improved quite a lot since last year and the Disney site quotes for 2019 for a moderate hotel are looking cheaper than last year. I might be unrealistic but I am hoping that our holiday might come in around the same price for next Oct as we paid for this Oct diy.

I don't think that's unrealistic at all. Unless something changes massively on the Disney site (which it hasn't in previous years), I think we'll be looking at a similar overall cost to our 2017 trip - provided nothing unexpected happens to flight prices.

Thanks all, I decided against booking with VH although I still hope to fly Virgin!
Thanks for the advice
