News says they scrambled 2 typhoons from RAF Coninsby as a private jet from Nurenburg lost communication, it has now landed at Stansted, all fine, just three crew on board.

Out of interest, how long would /could it take a jet fighter to get from Coningsby to when it went into Mach 2 and how long to get to Stansted ? Sorry I can’t work out the maths 😳

We heard it in Kent, followed by a jet noise, but it was cloudy so we couldnt see anything, so looked on the radar and it had already turned his transponder off. Some people caught it over Cambridgeshire and Essex doing over 1100mph so he wasn't hanging around.
Think that was the first time I've heard a sonic boom

I was outside in the playground at school. Very loud bang & I thought it was a sonic boom. Were in Harlow.
Some time later we were indoors we heard the roar of a jet/s going over so that confirmed it. Couldn't see anything as the clouds were so low.
