Recording telly programmes

Another request for info please.

I used to have an HDD recorder which plugged into the aerial and telly, to record programmes.

I want another but looking on Amazon they are so complicated, so much info yet I can’t work out if they will do the basic timer/record/playback, which is all I want !

Help please.

For me the best freeview recorders are made by humax.

I've had one for about 8 years (replaced with a newer model) & they've really not let me down.
You'll need to check if as I think they were making changes to them. They stopped making an app for mine (used as a TV guide so you could send recordings to the box even when out) but BT came to our aid & allowed retail boxes to use their app. I think because BT recorders are all humax so not hard to do.

Mine doesn't have WiFi but does have ethernet so you can use Al the catchup apps as well as netflix.

I assume you're watching Freeview? I have Freesat with a HDD Humax box, although I barely use it. The Freeview equivalent would work for you and setting recordings is easy enough.

We have a Panasonic box that we bought a couple of weeks ago, not cheap £169. It records you can pause rewind etc. We looked at the Humax, but wasn’t in stock when we went to buy it, so bought the Panasonic very happy with it.

Another one with humax. If I can use it anyone can! Very simple, can record 2 programmes at once if needed. Think I am a bit old fashioned but it does for me.

The best solution must be to take out the Sky signature package.

You get a superb recording and streaming device.

As well as your Freeview channels you get the basic Sky ones including Sky Atlantic and Sky One(e.g.A discovery of Witches)

Netflix is included.

Sky Box sets are included

Access to apps such as Amazon Prime, Disney+, etc.
