How to help someone cut down on alcohol?

Hes drunk alcohol everyday since I've known him, and knows he needs to cut down.
I wouldnt say he was an alcoholic really-he doesnt hide booze around the house, or drink secretly, or drinks first thing in the morning, or pass out from drinking too much. But he has at least 7-10 cans a day starting around 1pm.

Its not about going tee-total, its about cutting down or going a few days a week without.
No groups etc that I know of over here so any online info or help you can give would be appreciated (pm me if you like x)

I’m afraid 7-10 a day starting at lunch time does very much sound like an alcoholic.
Has he asked for help from you or is this something you’re hoping to approach with him ?

I would confidently say that someone who drinks 7 to 10 cans of alcohol everyday (starting at lunchtime) is an alcoholic and needs professional help more than advice on here.

Yup. You may be in denial and enabling this. If he doesn’t realise this is pretty much the definition of alcoholic then he is in denial. If he’s asked for help/support that’s got to be a good thing though.

I personally wouldn’t go down the AA route but it does work for lots of people, but he needs professional help and support, and you might too.

Anyone who drinks that amount daily is an alcoholic but they need to want to stop themselves. This any help gosober.uk/

I know he's an alcoholic, I grew up with them.
Maybe i should have said "typical" alcoholic, doing the things people generally associate with alcoholics (The drinking first thing etc)

I guess that is something the AA hears all the time, but as hard as it is to hear he's an alcoholic and his liver and general health (physical and mental) can't be good to be so dependent on alcohol. I don't mean to sound sarcastic but I know you previously said money was tight, and frankly I'm not surprised it is because buying 7-10 tins of a beer a day must cost a fortune.

Im definately not in denial-ive known from the start he drinks too much, its just starting to bother me more and more as we get older.
He functions perfectly-no hangovers, no missing work, no violence etc.
Im getting worried for his health as we get older-nothing wrong now but who knows in the future?
