You can "book" for the Magical Express online secure.reservations.disney.g...US/dme/dmeform

It does make it easier for Disney to know when people are arriving at MCO and where they're going to get the right number of buses on route.

However as mentioned you can just arrive at the booking in stand at MCO with just a hotel reservation and they'll get you on the bus as well.

I’ve always suspected that you could just pitch up and be sorted out. I think we once inadvertently did this as they couldn’t find the booking we thought we had. It took longer to “book in” that time than other times. My absolute favourite way to book in is by pinging your magic band from the year before. We put them in carryon for this exact purpose.

That’s true we booked the ME on our last trip in September 2016. We were given a booking ref but when I got to the desk at the Airport and quoted the reference it came up with nothing but they just asked for a hotel booking ref and added us on the next coach going to CBR.
