We’re about to cut into ours now. I soaked the fruit for much longer than usual this year so I’m hoping it’s not made it bitter. I’m going to go with the Dibb suggestion of rum next year as I’ve always used brandy
It wasn’t bitter at all 😋

and my second cake - just managed to finish it on time (about 10pm Christmas Eve).
This one matches the theme of one of the Christmas Cards I batch made this year. I belong to a local crafting group and because we have had no meeting over 2020 we have been running zoom meetings and online challenges ever month. For this month the theme was same design, two different mediums, hence cards and cakes to match!

Love the wedge idea - means you can have a crafty slice while decorating! Ours is still wrapped in paper and receiving injections of alcohol. We don't really start it until the New Year anyway, too busy eating the Christmas perishables. We usually finish it sometime between May and July.
