Scared at 2022 prices-moral support needed

We promised our grandkids and son we would take them to Orlando in 2021, but that isn't going to happen imo. Having looked at what price we could book a 2021 holiday for compared to the prices coming in for 2022 I am scared. I know prices are cheap this year due to covid, and that flight prices are not out for August 2022 but by doing DIY this year I could save more than £4k on travel agents quotes for next year. What advice or thoughts do you seasoned travellers have for me please?

Wait until you can price up DIY for next year. I’m sure you will grind prices aren’t too much different if you do. Prices are often inflated this early on.

Thank you Ginnyfish. I was just wondering if bookings will be high for next year and worried about not getting the flights for when we want. I am undecided on what to do for the best!

We have booked and taking the villa out including pool heat our flight prices (2ad+1ch) would need to be less then 2500 for the package to be cheaper. We are DIYers and always will be

We have booked for Nov 21 and are keeping our fingers crossed but please let us know when in 2022 you are planning, obviously school holidays are going to be expensive, also are you looking to stay on site or in a villa or local hotel and how many of you?

We have to go school hols as youngest will be 12, so have chosen 17 Aug for 16 nights. 12 nights in a villa and 4 in Universal RPR for FOL passes. I know it's a more expensive time. I can't get over the difference in price if I booked Virgin Flydrive now for this year compared to same time next year.

We were due to go August 20, then Feb 21, Aug 21 and now we are set on August 2022. Can't be dealing with cancelling again so giving this year a wide birth.

Anyway. We always book DIY, everything is booked separately, other than flight and car which we always book as a BA fly drive. For 2022 we have booked 13 nights in a Dibb villa (the owner has very kindly said that we have till Dec 2021 to decide if we're definitely going and if we decide against it we will get our deposit back) and 3 nights at Universal through Travel Republic on a £15 deposit. I have booked Universal 3 park tickets and Discovery Cove tickets through Floridatix on deposit only with covid cover We have a budget and have never gone over it, but then we are quite flexible and happy to fly to Miami/Tampa and drive.

I think if you have realistic expectations of prices then you will be fine, but I wouldn't worry too much about fly drive prices with Virgin for next summer as they always seem to be massively overpriced! Friends have booked for August 22, 4 of them and a car on a flydrive, £6k! It's too early to judge I think.

I think that you can't really get a good idea of flight prices until 11 months out, at that point all the carriers have availability and prices become more competitive. For August often after Christmas sales work out most reasonable. I certainly wouldn't be worrying about it at this point.

My advice is to not look for 2022 prices now. Prices are not available for 2022 yet so it is just guesswork and will naturally have a generous buffer.
