Getting through Customs

I know it’s a how long is a piece of string question. But can anyone who has recently traveled on the 13:00 from LGW tell me how quickly they got through customs at MCO.

You can check historical wait times here awt.cbp.gov/

Do a search for the last few Fridays and look for your arrival time and see how the picture looks.

There is no 'customs' anymore; it is now dealt with by the immigration officer.

As others have said something you can't control despite well planned timetables and statistics.

No international arrivals within say 20 minutes ahead of you and you could be through immigration in 15 minutes - then wait 45 minutes for the carousel to start as happened to us a couple of trips ago.

However three international 747s into gates 70-99 (not just from UK obviously) just ahead of you and there could be c1,300 pax in the hall ahead of you so plan on 2 hours.

Unlikely you'll get any customs forms and the kiosks disappeared last year. The immigration officer may ask if you have food but no sign of a customs officer for years.

Mick

I didn’t even notice walking through customs last trip as you no longer need to complete and hand the form in.

My big question regarding this is when do you start timing, and when do you stop ?

How long is a piece of string when you don't know where the ends are ?

We guess at being in our room or close to it about 3 hours after the expected time of landing... give or take an hour. We plan nothing but getting to our accommodation on the first night. If we get time to do something then we do it, but we don't plan it then we don't stress over not doing it.

Having experienced both extremes over the years (15 minutes to being held on the plane for an hour) I've said on here a dozen or more times no point stressing about something over which you have no control.

Out of interest I did time our arrival off TC in April. Seats 7A & 7C (best on plane ) so one of the first off. There was a VS ahead of us and from being stationary at the end of the queue we were at the carousel 30 minutes later. Our two cases already whizzing round - result.

15 minutes late driving the Ford Fusion out of garage B on auto-pilot to 417 south.

Mick

PS Just seen countdown - have a good one
