Pets in the hot weather
Last few days its been very hot, our poor dog is feeling it today, very lethargic and seems to feeling a bit sorry for himself☹️ He did start antibiotics the other day so that may be part of it, but he looks so sad laid on settee with fan on. Making sure at least he drinks water occasionally, any other tips?

we have cooling mats though the kids use them more than the pets
alternatively a damp towel to lay on works well and seems to be our pup preferance add ice cubes to his water - word of warning our pup loves to fish them out and leave them all over the house we also freeze bottles of water or ice packs and lay them under one edge his towel - he usually rests his head on it small paddling pool in the garden they can splash around in if they are outside - we try to limit his time outside in the sun but if the kids are in the garden he wants to be out there with them |

Careful with the cooling mats, they can have toxic gel in them

We put ice cubes in her water bowl and freeze some watermelon, she loves that.

Pop his paws in cold water, that helps to cool dogs off.
If you don't think he's drinking enough, pop a bit of goats milk into his water (but not cow's milk, as doggie digestive systems can't process it as well).

Tilly is struggling at the moment. But she is so silly, she keeps going outside and lying in the sun! (We have the patio doors open)
We literally have to pick her up and bring her inside! We have not been taking her out in the heat. Waiting until around 7pm and doing a smaller walk however yesterday she gave up and would not move 🙈 so she was carried home 💕 I think her age makes her confused (she is 11) |

Ours loves her cooling mat. She uses it all year round as she has epilepsy that is set off by any sort of heat. Well worth the money paid for it. We also make ice cubes out of their food and fruit.
