Have done both on and offsiteand to be honest I don’t think it’s worth it. You can get far superior accommodation and dining for less money offsite
HOWEVER if I were doing the Dopey challenge I would want to be onsite for the dates/times of the races for the travel to and fro the races.

I never did onsite for 20+ trips to Disney.
Then I did onsite.
I liked it so much I bought DVC.
I find it a very different experience staying on site, and for me, worth the extra.

A very tough but very fun and rewarding weekend. Even though the races don't start til 5.30am you're going to probably want to be on the buses to Epcot at about 3.30am. The resort buses run pretty much continuously so it just takes some stress away which will likely be very welcome, especially after the marathon.

The weather wasn't too bad really, a bit chilly but take a foil blanket and layer up and you'll be fine. You warm up quickly once you get moving. The marathon day was actually the toughest as it was pretty warm and humid, give me cold over that anyday!

Would be interested to hear where you first stayed that you enjoyed so much?

OKW on what was back then a great free dining deal.

Since I've had DVC my favourite resort has been Boardwalk. For us, that and Beach Club and the ability to walk into 2 parks is unbeatable. But all the deluxe resorts are good.

I bought DVC resale at least initially when it only cost the equivalent of about 2 trips so was a 'no brainer' but I added on a few times, and even now you can buy Saratoga resale at 105 a point or so.

If you’re doing the races then it’s a no brainier. Stay on site.

Whilst there are many reasons to stay off site , at least for race days staying on site makes much more sense.

I’ve responded on your other thread but I’d do a split stay if I were you. 5 nights is enough to qualify for diningplan (if it’s the same once released).
