Connecting through JFK

We're considering indirect flights with Virgin via JFK and wondered if anyone could share their experience of how I was.
I understand that you probably need to change terminals, is that easy enough to do and would 2hrs 30 mins be sufficient connecting time as we'll be one of the first off as flying Biz Class?
Thanks

We did this a couple of years ago. First time esta users and only 1h 40 mins between flights. We did it with no problem. The queue at immigration looked massive but there was a separate queue for those "in transit".
Not sure I'd rush to do it again but we had no problems.

You may not have to change terminals. The transatlantic flight will arrive to T4, the domestic on Delta will depart from either T2 or T4.

Either way, after immigration, bag claim and customs, drop any checked bags at the counter just after customs, then reclear security in T4. If you need to go to T2, do that airside from T4 using the Delta shuttle bus.
