Mobile Daft question! Who do you use to book

I’ve only had a very quick look, but booking a Disneyland holiday does not seem as straight forward as a WDW hols... any hints or ideas would be much appreciated

It will depend on whether you want to do it via an agent or DIY.

I went DIY last year:
- Flights - booked directly with airline.
- Airport transfer from LAX to Disneyland area hotel and back - Supershuttle from LAX to Disneyland area hotel booked directly with Supershuttle, then Lyft from hotel back to LAX.
- Hotels - Fairfield Inn Anaheim booked directly with Marriott.com, Grand Californian hotel booked directly with Disney USA. I also looked at Expedia and other hotel websites e.g. Hilton. Disney USA also had an offer running for my stay dates which was nice.
- Disneyland tickets - bought through a third party (lastminutetravel club) as they were by far the cheapest I found.

The upside of Disneyland is that it's one very compact resort area that contains within walking distance the two parks, Downtown Disney, and the 3 DL hotels. In addition to this, it is surrounded by many motels and hotels that are within walking distance. This means that you have a lot of choice with hotels that are within walking distance at DL!

Do you have any specific questions about booking a DL holiday?

Always DIY for the West Coast ourselves. You want the flexibility to visit the places you want when you want.

WDW is no more complex than a holiday to Spain for most people. Which flight, which hotel, what car, what tickets done. Always laugh when people say I can book WDW with my eyes shut. Well yes.

Work out your agenda first, where do you want to visit for how long. Some locations like Yosemite book out a year in advance, so get that booked on a cancellable rate if you plan to get there when they get released for your dates. You can then start booking everything else as you find things for the right price. Some secure cars and hotels on cancellable rates early for all locations and then swap if they see a better deal throughout the year. Flights whenever you see a good price, then never look again as you can't do anything about it

Have you got some dates and agenda in mind? If so, start with posting that and people will help you shape that and recommend trip reports of offer advice.

Book DIY. Everyone has a different itinerary - we went to San Diego but many go north to San Francisco. Most people won’t do a whole 2 weeks in one hotel as you only need a few days at Disneyland and it’s not worth the commute to visit other cities/places from Anaheim.

Thanks so much for the replies.
Sounds definitely like DIY is the way to go! Just need to think around dates and convince my DH 😉

We used the good neighbour package booked thro disneyland, sometimes have offers such as 4th night free, or an extra day in parks. Stayed at major hotel chains along our route from San F to LA as we collect loyalty points thro credit cards and UK stays. Another good site is Booking.com also allows you to collect points, nine stays for one free night I think, and more importantly has free canx!
