We were out the airport and in our vehicle in 50 minutes on our trip and on our last trip think it was about same.

So Virgin staff told us a "new" esta specifically so not a "first" esta. When I queried they said if you had one that you'd just applied for then you had to go through the desk for the first use.

In terms of the combo, I think the visa might have to go a different route but not sure. I thought the machines were for ESTAs

Whilst I accept it may be different, we used the machines in JFK last August and it was defintiely "First Ever". We all had new ESTAs (not first ESTAs) and used the machines.

I think the sign said you could join the machine queue (there wasn't actually a queue) if you have ever entered with an ESTA before.
