Thanks for all your replies. Some really helpful stuff there. My 9 year old is pretty small for his age, so sounds like he may not get onto some of the rides.

I wouldn't want to spend 14 days there, but I'm finding it hard to find anything other than 14 day tickets? So feels like I'll have to pay for that even though we may only do a few days there?

Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times YES - Don't miss Universal - your boys will LOVE it - HP is brilliant, but there is so much more as well - Spiderman, Hulk, King Kong - I could go on. Universal is awesome. We usually book two (separate) nights at the RPR on site, because then you get 4 days worth of fast pass. 4 days is enough for the two parks. Not been to Volcano Bay as wasn't built on our last visit, so you might need an extra day for that.

Ah, ok. I see.

Websites such as UndercoverTourist.com and OrlandoAttractions.com sell tickets for shorter durations. However, they aren't a huge amount cheaper than the 14 day tickets.

For example, UndercoverTourist does a 2-day + 2-day Base ticket covering the 3 parks for $273 (about £215). Or the same as a Park Hopper ticket for $314 (about £245).

I am not a big fan of Universal due to most rides being simulators and feeling repetitive very quickly, but I must say the "physical" rides (HP, Hulk, The Mummy, Jurassic Park come to mind) are very well done and worth experiencing. I skipped Uni on my last trip but may go back next time as many new rides have opened since then - all screen based - Kong, Fast and Furious, Jimmy Fallon... however I missed the HP Gringotts ride opening so would like to try that and also the new HP roller coaster opening this year sounds amazing.

Edited at 04:14 PM.

I enjoy Universal and its definitely worth a few visits myself and the family are not big Harry Potter fans either.
The Hulk never grows old same with the Rip Ride Rocket is really good fun IMO.

... all of the above and E.T. - everyone should go on this at least once, probably the most Disney thing at Universal in terms of magic.

I like Harry Potter but I don't like Universal Studios as a whole apart from that area. I do like Islands of Adventure though. Seuss Landing is a hoot! I also love the Jurassic Park area particularly the water ride. I also like the Harry Potter area.

I did 2 days - that was enough for me. I didn't go to Volcano Bay though.
