US hire Car age query?

Sorry if this is stupid question but how do you tell the age of a American car that your about to hire when walking down the line to choose? A UK reg plate will give you that info. Does an American plate do the same? Being fussy but if there's a 2019 model I'd rather that than a 2018 model

The tag on the registration will be the main give away. It's basically a tax disc so look for one that expires in 9 months +.
