First timer - how is this for a budget?
Two adults, three children (10 / 7 and 2), one week, Easter 2020 (wb 30.3 and flying home on Good Friday)
Hotel or villa, direct flights from GLA or MAN, three days Disney, one or two days Universal. £5000 plus spending money? Is it doable? |

Thomas Cook from manachester on 30th March 2020 is £3215 with luggage. So only leaves you £1785 for accommodation and tickets. I think 5k would be a struggle.

i think you might struggle - mostly because of wanting Direct flights from Glasgow or Manchester in the Easter holidays, and the price of park tickets if you're doing both Disney and Universal. Try pricing up each element of your holiday separately, see what it comes to -
Flights - as above ; Tickets - have a look on the Tickets forum on the DIBB for rough prices; Hotel/villa - check trivago and spend hours checking out what you might like ; car hire - if you're offsite you will probably find hiring a car the most convenient way of travelling around with your party size; |

If you are going as first time, can you make your stay longer - you have not given yourself any time to do the parks justice
4 Disney parks and 2 water parks - you want at least one day at each. Universal 2 parks but they are worth having 2 days at each if you can. I'd say cost it out with your hotels and flights and save a little more if you are going to struggle, or do what we did first time and use flexible friend. It is worth it. It is a long way to go just for a couple of days.

Thanks for the replies. We can only go for a week and are restricted to holiday dates.
I’ve actually made a mistake and we would be going on April 4. Might need to look at indirect flights - would just rather not with three boys in tow. |

For the first time and only going for one week, I’d give universal a miss and concentrate solely on Disney - you won’t even see half of Disney in a week and would save quite a lot of money not doing Universal.

I also think too much in a week - choose one of the parks and stick with that. A week is not long enough to do everything and remember your flights are 8/9 hours each way too.

I think I agree with only a week I’d do either Disney or universal. Universal have some good room rates at the minute. I don’t think I’d go for a week though - flights are too expensive. Buying the theme park tickets for a few days is nearly as much as for the 2 weeks so I’d try and go when you can do two weeks.
We went when are youngest of 3 was 2 and I couldn’t have managed an indirect flight. Edited at 09:45 PM. |

I think you will struggle at Easter for that price. I certainly wouldn’t get Disney and Universal tickets for just a week. Could you make it 9-10 days? Obviously this will be dearer but it’s a long way for just a week, especially for a first trip.
Indirect may be cheaper but I agree that direct would be better with children. Thomas Cook flights from Manchester are often reasonable but I’m not sure if it would be cheap enough at Easter. If you could tweak dates not to travel on a weekend or a bank holiday you can save quite a bit too |

Have you had a look at direct to Tampa? We saved nearly £120 per person when we booked in Jan.
I agree that maybe just universal or disney would be best save costs and you can enjoy the week without being exhausted as it will be busy that week and trying to fit everything in including travelling days |
