Yosemite to Vegas...overnight stop ideas?
Will be travelling from Yosemite to Vegas mid August and would like recommendations for where to stay overnight between the two? Lone Pine? Bishop? 2 adults 2 teenagers and we would like to see Death Valley but am aware its going to be unbearably hot. Excuse my ignorance geographically but I'm not sure if there is a way to do that very early morning after our overnight stay? Interested to know your thoughts and what some of you have already done? Many thanks in advance

We did the reverse journey, from Vegas we left early went through Death Valley, stopped off a few times at different points . It was hot I couldn’t last much more than than 10 mins out the car , on the way to yosemite we stopped in bishop, a lovely small town and enjoyed a bbq meal there.

We also did the reverse journey and stayed in Bishop at the Creekside Inn (think i saw recommendations on here). It was a lovely place to stop. Also don't miss the fabulous Erick Schats bakery in Bishop!

We did an overnight stop at the Best Western in Lone Pine a few years ago. Comfortable enough for the night, great views and convenient stop off. One downside was in the morning the air was thick with crickets! If you do drive through Death Valley, you were supposed to check in at the ranger station each end. We didn’t notice the sign until we were at the other end! We did take plenty of water with us just in case...

We just drove Vegas to Yosemite in a day. A few toilet stops and we stopped for lunch. Long day but manageable. Meant we had an extra night in Yosemite

We stayed in Comfort Inn Lone Pine for a night. Pleasantly surprised, nice room, comfy bed, nice pool and hot tub with amazing views.

We did the journey the other way round and stayed at the Comfort Inn at Lone Pine.
Nice little town with a nice Mexican for dinner. Hotel was good and nice dip in the pool. Would highly recommend!
