Sky are regulated, by OFCOM, no different to gas and electric really , there’s various deals , if you do nothing and your contract ends you go onto a rolling monthly contract and no offers.
Duchy, may I ask a question. I’m sure you have answered it before but my searching abilities are poor! New customers get better deals (inticement-business sense) but why can they not be price matched for ‘diamond’ vips. I’ve been with sky for 21 years (&#129327 and I’ve just had an online chat as my pricing is going up by £40 even though I’m not out of contract until May 🙄. I was hoping to match the deal but they wouldn’t budge! I’m now thinking of finally kicking the can and leaving as I’m fed up of this silly dance we have to do every 18 months.

Check your future payments on line too folks. Our SKY goes up by £4 on 1st April not bad I thought. At present £48.50 for Signature,HD, Cinema, & full Sports package (we never wanted Sports package just F1 but it was cheaper to have the package at the time). Anyway on check Future Payments in our account it says April-May £52 May-June £60.51 June-July £76 !
Dutchy perhaps you can explain why that would be before I ring and cancel SKY altogether.
We got the original deal due to the fact that when they came to fit us up with SkyQ we were unable to have it as we have trees around us & although we would probably be ok if run thru our present dish on the roof of our bungalow due to health and safety they could not go up and fit it!

Will you be out of your contract then as mine will go up to in July too, but my contract runs out that month, so it will be a call to hopefully renegotiate 🙄🙊🤞

No, in contract till November ! So annoying as we never had a 'contract' until the last negotiation as above

They don’t any more, the policy now is existing customers are offered the same deals as new customers.
I’d suggest *talking* to retentions rather than online chat.
I’ve worked online chat and whilst it’s good for lots of things , my personal opinion is that as an agent can be dealing with up to ten different customers at once as people respond at different speeds a negotiation and looking at different combinations works better with a bit of rapport and one to one conversation.

Sounds like you have two events happening , the annual 1st April price rise and then your (probably) eighteen month contract coming to an end so everything going up to full price as the offers end with the fixed term contract. Definitely worth a call for a make over
Remember some offers may not have been taken out when you recontracted but started earlier (eg maybe you added sports in September with a 18 month offer but recontracted the base pack in November ... or your talk and broadband offer and contract dates may be different to your TV dates as they are two separate contracts)

Thanks Duchy! You are a legend! I usually call but the wait was silly and the online chat popped up so I thought I’d give it a go. Next time I’ll just ring 😉 old ways are always golden!

That went well. My sub was going up to £13.99 for Netflix on 4th March. I have ultraHD with Sky. Five minute call and moved Netflix over to Sky for billing. Kids won't notice anything as everything else is the same. I will notice the reduction to £5 a month from £13.99!

Now I'm saving £9 a month a can justify £59 for Disney + renewal!

Result , glad I mentioned it
Just remember to follow the steps in the Netflix email you’ve just got from Sky to ensure the Netflix DD stops.
Now Sky Kids no long has Disney content a lot of people are ditching Kids and adding either Netflix for the same fiver or Disney plus for £5.99.
(Back to my day off now )
