Apple Watch users
The birthday fairy has implied I may be getting an Apple watch imminently ...
A question ... I use my smart phone to record all my steps at the moment ... when I synch it with my watch will all the current data be transferred? TIA |

as far as I know, it remains on your phone anyway. Assuming it's an iPhone.
My watch displays all the basic info but more detailed information can be found on the phone. No doubt someone will come along with a better, more definitive answer but I think you'll be okay and keep the existing info. |

Additionally will the steps recorded on the watch show on the I phone?

The phone is the central point. The watch streams to the phone, it caches the steps if the phone is not in range of the watch at the time of the steps. When back in range it sync's up. Same as if you are not wearing the watch, the phone takes over to count the steps.
The data shown on the watch is from the phone. So essentially the source of truth is the phone. |

Yes all the data transfers to your phone in the Apple“fitness” app.
This information is also available on the watch itself again under the “fitness” app. The watch has apps too👍 Dependent on the model, you can also take an ECG and the latest version 6 also has the blood oxidation levels too.

Enjoy, my new one has just arrived, I'm synching it as we speak. I had an old series 1 that kept turning off mid run so needed a new fitness tracker.

There can be an issue in terms of how the Watch and the Phone work together in Health/Fitness, which means the number of steps recorded appears differently in different places.
I outlined the "fix" in this thread: https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1186301 |

Apart from maintaining steps (and telling the time) what other uses does an Apple Watch have?
