Dialects - what do you call a...
Following on from another thread, it’s fascinating how we call things by different names depending on where we live. When I moved to the south coast I had no idea what a twitten was, turns out it’s an alleyway! And in Manchester they call them ginnels?
Any more? What else? |

Twitten is a Sussex thing. They call them Alleyways in Kent

That was me! I bought the book too. There were one way directions as it was August last year so are planning a return visit to explore more thoroghly when we can 😁

I’m in South Yorkshire we call them gennels, the one at end off our street though I refer to as 🐶💩alley
