Southern California Covid theme park update from LA

A very depressing read I’m afraid.

Parks in So Cal won’t be allowed to re open until the county they are in is classified as Tier 4 which is the lowest. The predicted time for that is summer 2021!

Now I think economic pressures may change that and also a potential vaccine.

But this latest news from LA is not good at all.

I don't think anyone should be looking to add any theme parks into their California itinerary for a couple of years. Even if they open next summer, it will be capped at 25% capacity which will be taken up by local passholders. Also you can't queue inside or have switchbacks in queues. So basically more than half the attractions will not even open.

My prediction unless a vaccine comes to fruition is that it will be 2023/4 until Disneyland is back operating at a normal level.

Oh dear poor Disneyland😢 I know they’ve been ready to open from August. Just awful times.

Not good news for the California theme parks and all the people they employ.

We were supposed to be going to California next month for our 1st visit to Disneyland and Universal Hollywood. Annoyingly we bought 5-day hopper tickets for Disney back in January from Attraction Tickets as the price was set to go up. They're offering either to exchange for 2021 tickets if we pay the difference in price or we can get an 80% refund (losing over £100). We were already doubtful of being able to go in 2021 but this news just makes it even less likely so looks like we will have to take the 80% refund. I don't think we'll ever buy tickets paid in full so far in advance again!

It’s dreadful news, not just for Disney and it’s employees, but the very many local businesses whose custom depends on people going to the parks.

We are gutted, as Disneyland was meant to be a big part of our holiday next year it looks like we will be putting off until 2022. Really sad for all those at Disneyland and the surrounding businesses it will effect. Theres a lot of speculation on another forum that Disney will go the legal route to overrule the governor, but I'm not really sure what is possible.

We are due to go in May , we were travelling down from Vegas for a three day trip before heading to Arizona, we have a plan b in place , if Disney won’t be open. Such a shame , love Disneyland and is a nice start to our holiday having a couple of days in the parks .

I’m meant to be going next summer- will be a bummer if not open. Was going to book Grand Californian. Seems crazy, suspect will change.

I would challenge them on that - if the parks are closed during the validity of the tickets then the contract is frustrated and you are entitled to a full refund - whatever their T&C's say.

That’s rubbish and upsetting for all locally concerned. Just read a similar article.

We were supposed to be there right now and have put it back to end of April / early May. It was a 2 part holiday taking in Orlando on the way home but we’ll just keep pushing it back and pushing it back until we eventually go - however long it takes.
