Opting out of housekeeping. Details?
We are here now.
I opted out of housekeeping because last time they had never been before late afternoon so we were coming back to unmade beds anyway. We are out to the parks early; in the room out of the heat between 2 & 6pm then out till late. Every day for 8 days someone has knocked around 4pm to do a room inspection and every day I have explained that we are always having a siesta at this time and that they should come back either in the mornings or after 5pm. I understand they are supposed to check the room but what are they actually checking for? I'm quite cross about it actually. Surely their system could be a bit more flexible? Every day I've had the same conversation with a different person. I asked the one that came today if I could have a dustpan and brush. I think she thought I was demented but we've been here a week and we could do with a sweep up! No brush available lol Oh and does anyone know at what point they change the sheets? Edited at 09:07 PM. |

Since you've opted out of housekeeping they won't change the sheets - you have to ask for some clean ones and change them yourself.

I could have written this in May, well actually I did!
Opted out then like you the checks became as intrusive as not getting it cleaned I complained and ended up with a guaranteed room clean by midday I had to escalate to resort and the cleaning management They won’t change sheets but you can request some |

Can you choose to have the odd day of housekeeping here and there during your stay? We’re there for 13 days and I’d like the room cleaned and sheets changed a couple of times but would like to opt out of the rest. Not sure if this is possible?

So you opt out of house keeping only to request a brush because it needs cleaning and want to know when your sheets will be changed. . You opted out..
They need to check the room for dead bodies. They will be very quick, I can understand that inspecting at 4am might be an issue, but not sure it would bother me at 4pm even if I am there. I would never opt out, I like coming back to a clean room. One trip I found they were coming a bit later than I would like so I called down and asked if they could come earlier. Sorted. |

We had a guy knock one day when we’d sent the housekeeper away as we’d just got back and he said it was a security check. I assumed they’re looking for evidence of extra guests.
It did seem remarkable that we’d get back (POFQ), there’d be no sign of a housekeeper and 2 mins later they’d knock. I reckon they do it on purpose knowing you’ll likely turn them away. Only found out when we got back that one of our daughters complained her room had only been cleaned once (there for a week) and they knocked $60 off the bill. |

If you opt out, you can request a clean at any point during your stay and you'll simply have $10 charged to your room account - basically taking back the $10 they gave you for that day

Thanks. This sounds like a good kind of alternative. There will only be my daughter and I in the room so it won’t be dirty but it would be nice to have someone clean and change the beds every now and then. We won’t need it everyday, though, and the extra money will pay for something nice in the parks. Best of both worlds!
