AllStars vs. Swan/Dolphin!
Just wanted some thoughts from people. Which in your opinions is better-the Allstars resorts or the Swan and Dolphin resorts? Here's my list of pros & cons:
Allstars Pros: Cheaper! More child friendly Informal Offcial Disney hotels Magical Express etc. Allstars Cons: Noiser? Food court only service travel times to parks Bus only transport S/D Pros: Deluxe level resort Food options Location, location, location! Pools Transport options (not just buses etc) More peaceful? S/D Cons: Not a 'proper' Disney hotel Room theming not as good Chargeable extras-parking etc Anything else I've not thought of? It should be interesting to see people's opinions! |

We stayed at the Swan last month, very nice hotel, lots of kids about so definitely child friendly. Not at all 'stuffy', folks walking about in swim suits and sarongs etc. Location was great being able to walk to the Boardwalk and also see the Epcot fireworks, would stay there again in a heartbeat. Can't comment on All Stars but loved the Swan! Pussycat

Same 2 hotel's I've been pricing up today
Having stayed in Sports I have to say I'd personally pay the extra to stay in Dolphin. Don't get me wrong Sports was fine, nothing horrible about it but it was just very plain & I felt you could tell it was a 'value' hotel, the room also felt quite small, but then we were a teenagers, 1 adult & a 5 year old. I also got very sick of the food after a while, was great tasting but even back then when I weighed a measly 5 & a half stone & barely ate, I'll admit I got bored of eating what felt like the same thing, however that could just be me. I was (& still am) very fussy on my food & only ate a limited number of things so that could be more it than anything else. We're staying offsite this year, but as I don't drive travel to & from the parks is working out a bit costly so we've decided to stay onsite next time & keenly looking at the Dolphin, it seems like a great hotel & has so much more to offer than Sports - hence the price I suppose. Saying that my last trip to WDW was 7 years ago so a lot could have changed in All Stars by then, & ultimately I think it depends on how much time you're going to be spending at the hotel - why pay so much more if all you want is a bed for the night? Good luck whatever you choose, either way its Disney so you'll have a fab time |

Have to agree I would choose the Swan & Dolphin. I haven't stayed in the Allstars resorts but I have stayed in the Dolphin and I am sure we will stay there again.
I know that some people don't like the Swan & Dolphin because there is no Magical Express, Key to the World Card, Dining Plan and it attracts a lot of conventions. These things don't bother me so much, I like the location it has some of the best restaurants on site and the swimming pools are huge.

We've stayed at the dolphin three times and it's a lovely hotel and the location is brilliant.
Can't comment on all stars as we've never tried it. Next year we are staying at the yacht club to try out free DDP but will still wander over to the dolphin for a breakfast at the Mediterranean market as its so good!

The big plus for me would be location with Swan/Dolphin winning hands down on that score. They also have some lovely dining choices whereas the All Stars has a limited selection in the food courts. Having said that the All Stars are fun resorts to stay at especially for kids with the in-your-face themeing. It's not really fair to compare as they are completely different types of resort and your choice will come down to individual preference.
