Universal building 4th theme park?

New documents filed this week offer a first look at plans for Universal Orlando’s fourth theme park.

The plans will transform 540 acres of empty land near Lockheed Martin. That’s in addition to the construction of two hotels on the old Wet ‘n Wild property as part of the 4,000-room Endless Summer Resort.

“I see a very big easel for Universal Orlando and Comcast to paint through over the next few years,” said theme park analyst Rick Munarriz. “Universal now has the coloring book, now they just need to show us their crayons.

There will be 100 acres of new roads and more than 5,000 parking spots.

Munarriz said 5,000 parking spots seems like a conservative number.

“So I’m thinking there's going to be a transportation system to get people from the resort to the new resort,” Munarriz said.

The plans do not show exactly what's coming, but Universal has trademarked the name “Universal's Fantastic Worlds.”

The new Nintendo Land, including Mario Kart and a Donkey Kong roller coaster, was supposed to be built at the KidZone section of Universal Orlando. But analysts said those rides, which are already designed, will likely go into a new park.

“[Universal] really needs to step up its game if it's going to compete with what Disney has coming in three years. That is why we have this new playground coming,” Munarriz said.

Probably the worst kept secret in the industry for a few years now, whatever ends up in Beijing could be a good indicator of what we may see in the new park.

Hopefully give Disney a run for their money once again, such fierce competition is good news for us all as theme park fans really

With all the guest accommodation they are building they do need another park to facilitate these and the day visitors.

The old Wet N Wild site is being turned into the Endless Summer Resort. Building is well under way for it to open Summer 2019. The new theme park is in a different location.

Here's one of the images showing the location of the new park:

The above is located just off the south end of Universal Blvd, south of W Sand Lake Road and east of International Drive - about 3 miles away from Universal's current resort:

Here are some very vague rumours as to what will be in the new Universal's Fantastic World's park:

Dreamworks World - themed to Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, How To Train Your Dragon, Madagascar (etc), this will includes some flat rides and a large signature dark ride themed to Kung Fu Panda (this is being built at Beijing).

Super Nintendo World - Mario Kart ride, family Yoshi ride, Donkey Kong mine cart coaster, or whatever they build at Japan.

Despicable Me World - New version of the current minions simulator ride but with higher capacity. Plus a spinner ride, perhaps similar to Freeze Ray Sliders in Japan.

Wizarding World - An area based on the Fantastic Beasts films, possibly incorporating a Ministry of Magic indoor dark coaster ride.

Jurassic World - A steel coaster and an indoor ride themed to the gyro-sphere seen in Jurassic World. (However, IOA already has a Jurassic Park area and is rumoured to be getting a new coaster).

Water World - Water-based pyrotechnic stunt show (similar to the one in Japan).

Perhaps this new park might spur Disney into building a 5th park?

All sounds great... And I would also assume that if all of these actually happen, they would probably get rid of Minions/Shrek in US and make some new things there too?

*IF* it includes the Minions and/or Shrek attractions (and it's a big if at the moment), then I would guess they would turn the attractions currently in Universal Studios into something else. It may just be a retheme - eg. turn Shrek 4D into a Transformer 4D film.

However, this is all speculation.

Its cat and mouse with these two anyway. Wdw had to up their game after HP as universal did by adding HP. Now with avatar and Star wars universal needs to improve big time. They have added free 6 months onto their Ap already to keep people happy and coming to the park who may let their passes lapse through the opening of star wars land.
