It depends on your phone, too. My sister has an iPhone and much better reception than I do with my cheap Nokia. It depends on the bands your phone supports because they use different bands in the US than we do.

Thanks everyone my phone is unlocked so im thinking that the 3 sim for £20 seems like the best option for me. the only worry i have is that my starling card app might not work with a different sim, has anyone had any issues with this.

We always buy three SIMs for each of our phones and have done so three times this year - a last-minute half-term week to Florida, a long weekend in New York and our recent three-week trip in and around Orlando and on each occasion they worked fine.
Data over cellular connections does seem a bit slow, which makes me wonder if data connections for three roaming is throttled a bit, but for what we pay the service is more than adequate. |

You need to set up the sim here before you go. Then you can test your app. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work but it They text you a code for login you will need to update your mobile number so that you receive the texts.

We forgot to put our SIMs in before we flew on our last trip. We just slotted them in when we got to the Beach Club and they worked fine.
(However, from another discussion on this, you do seem to do things differently from us with these SIMs so perhaps this is another difference) |

I know a couple of people who use 3 sim when they go there and they think it's great.

I got one of these sims free from ATD, and purchased unlimited data calls and texts for $39.99.
Going to swap sims when I get there. smartsimusa/ |

Another vote for Three here, i’m on a sim only deal back home anyway so its convenient it just switches over abroad. Never had an issue, data, calls & text work fine.

I can use my phone in America as part of my plan with Vodafone, previously we’ve had a 3 pay as you go sim and it worked fine, and also used the WiFi everywhere with no problems!
