Mobile Esta cancellation.

As we were only a week or so away from our March trip when it was cancelled API had been submitted so our ESTA’s were cancelled.
I can’t recall, if, when applying you are asked if you have previously had an esta cancelled?
I’m thinking our August trip is unlikely to go ahead but still have a little glimmer of hope for December.
Just pondering the visa route just in case.
Any thoughts?

The ESTA's were set to expired and not cancelled. You can apply for a new one.

We've had live ESTAs since they were introduced in Jan 2009 but never had one revoked or application refused. Therefore I can't say if that question is asked in the process.

Maybe the best thing to do is start a new application anyway and see what happens. I'm not suggesting you lie in the process but you don't have to commit to spending $14 until the end. If they ask answer truthfully - if they don't then on you go.

No VISA required. You have not had your ESTA cancelled. Please do not tick the box saying had you ever had an ESTA or VISA cancelled or you will have to apply for a VISA.

Your ESTA was EXPIRED by the US it wasn't cancelled. If you read the information from the US government it says that.

Please log into your existing ESTA and check the status. It should say Expired.

Thanks again, I was beginning to wish I’d not let my visa expire - seems it won’t be a problem.

Note to self- read your emails in full 🧐

I have checked and it does indeed say ‘Application Expired’

Once again thanks for your help.

That's a very useful outcome as lots of people have come on here and used the word "cancelled". I'll certainly remember for next time

My esta expires next month, not going til nov hopefully then back in March again hopefully, so will apply nearer the time, I haven’t put in my API for either of these holidays as I heard that is what can cause them to decline
