:) Going Out in a Blaze of Glory - Summer of Sorcery 2019 - DAY 17 - The day after the the day before!

Welcome back - you made it...I hoped you would!

In true after the Lords Mayors Show style, the 700+ photos that needed sifting for yesterday - compare to a rather paltry 12 today! The day tells a tale of it's own!

Day 16 is just a click here away - in case you missed the big Birthday

The whole index for 2019 and a link to all of the previous shenanigans is here

Welcome to DAY 17

Friday 9th August 2019

Well after a few beers yesterday, and a late night too, we woke surprisingly late!

We still had a plan for the day that looked like this in fast pass terms

Soarin' Around the World 5:00 PM - 6:00
Pixar Short Film Festival 6:00 PM - 7:00
Mission: SPACE 7:05 PM - 8:05

So, time for a bit of golf then! Just a Putting contest at Winter Summerland though, we arrived, and Joe instantly saw one of the best reg plates of the holiday.

Now just for information, we had printed off the State reg plate bingo sheet before we left home, Thanks JoJo88 ( click here to see her handiwork) - there is also an app available, but with competitive boys ( and adults!) our rules meant that each spot had to be confirmed by at least one other person in the car – pencil and paper avoided the urge to sneak another one on the list by those in the back!

It has made for some great journey spotting so far and a few arguments too! Amazing what Josh manages to spot on the interstate across 3 lanes of traffic whilst at a speed that means he can’t possibly read what he is trying to tell us!

This one was a great find though!

Once out of the car we became instantly aware of what we had driven into – the heat and feeling as we got out of the car was so different from Lake Wilson Preserve – it was that pressure cooker feeling we had experienced in the past few days.
Today – it was beyond ‘muggy’, it was also beyond hot and as we walked just a matter of yards towards the front desk, we heard the siren and whistles from Blizzard Beach, we knew what was happening and with the growl of thunder upon us, we simply got a photo for the Family Calendar for 2020, great place to do this, as the Christmas/ Winter theme is rather handy! It is also so detailed when you really look hard too!

We did not even have to ask at the desk, as everyone who was on the courses and those waiting to start their rounds were being told to clear the course and head for cover.

Impeccable timing!

We headed out towards the I4 and saw the incoming weather front – we decided to see how far we could outrun it!

We headed to The Loop – a long ignored shopping place out in the suburbs away from the theme park routes – it was only on the list by means of checking out something from many shopping questions on The Dibb!

The fantastic Nike store that was situated close to the old Arabian knights at the bottom end of the 192 had closed and it was said that this was its new location.

Our plan hit a bit of a hitch as our trusty sat nav – with a map from 2009 didn’t show it.

Time for a quick McDonalds stop for free Wi-Fi – this was one of those stops that you know you need to make, but we were so far off the main tourist parts that we were also aware that this could also have other consequences too!

We were only a few miles from The Loop and as luck would have it the McDonalds was quiet, so it was only the staff who gave us a strange look as we walked in. McFlurry’s all round and the Wi-Fi was welcomed, we were so close yet the entrance had eluded us.

I would love to share some positive recommendation about the Nike store but can’t. It was more akin to a Nike store at the Outlets and that meant for prices that were double of that from the old 192 store.
Disheartened, we even avoided exploring the rest of the retail, as it needed a car journey to get to each different shop!

We had though avoided the weather though!

We headed back towards familiar territory and as we stopped at Lake Buena Vista Mall (it used to be really good a few years ago!) we once more returned to the car empty handed and still dry!

We also made the decision to give up our fast passes for the day and abandon our plans for Epcot today.

With a stop off at Publix on the way back to the villa for some food for dinner tonight we had outrun the weather and thankfully decided that a pool evening was the order of the day!

This is always a highlight of any Villa stay as the evening swim becomes one of those evenings you wish you could just enjoy forever.

A few beers and lots of laughs and in between an evening meal that was conjured up, It was pulled pork on the other plate, just before you ask before another dip back into the tub and swim evening.

With much fun had we decided to just have a look at what we had planned in upcoming days. Sleep was fast upon us and with a big park day planned for tomorrow it will be needed!

See you real soon for DAY 18

It’s always good to be flexible as the weather in Orlando can change on a dime! Such a shame about your non-golf experience and the lack of good shopping. You did however redeem the day with your Publix dinner and relaxing night with pool time at the villa. A perfect end to the day.

Wow, someone likes onion 😁
If nothing else, at least you have a couple of places that you know not to go back to, there's always an upside to everything
Seriously though, loving the trip report as usual, looking forward to reading more.

Thank you for reading and leaving a message too

The onion has got us thinking about who made the salad for the burgers!

Love the positive look at saving us a trip out on a future trip -you are so right there

Glad you are enjoying the trip report - Day 18 is coming soon - it is substantially longer than this day !

Appreciate your comment and hope you enjoy the rest of the trip with us

What a shame your plans were disrupted by the weather and that you didn't manage to buy anything on your shopping trip. The dinner looks nice though and an evening in the pool sounds good fun.

We had done so much yesterday that a Putting session would possibly have set us up for something else - the incoming rain was starting to become a theme so a drive in the car to stay dry was a bit of a challenge.
The lack of park time was probably a bonus, it meant for extended villa pool time and that is something that usually gets nudged short when we keep on going in the parks.

Thanks for reading and be assured Day 18 is upcoming Country Bear Jamboree will never be the same

Today is a complete contrast to the adventures of yesterday, is that a sign that you're getting old? and can't take the pace

Ok that was mean of me . Not a surprise at all that you needed a full on chill day to rest and recuperate. The pool in the evening and relaxing together does sound lovely
